i've got sunshine. on a cloudy day.

That could be the best song ever.

Just when you think life can't get any worse... it gets better. First and foremost let me express my gratitude for all the prayers and fasts that have been directed our way. They have helped immensely, and for that we are eternally gratefull. Your efforts have not been in vain.

After five days of absolutely NO progress, Kaylee was extremely frustrated. Then she woke up yesterday able to see red. Last week she had a moment when she thought she could see a little bit of red, but it lasted for a minute and went away until yesterday when there was no question. Red was evident. Red means progress. Can life get any better??? I submit that it CANNOT! Then it did.

For about a week and a half I have been working on interviewing with Weber School District. My first interview was with Rocky Mountain Junior High. They had me as second in line for the position, and offered to contact other schools to promote me. 'Preciate chya. I interviewed with Roy High, Orion Junior High, Snowcrest Junior High, and have an interview lined up with North Ogden Junior High. As of Thursday no one had called me back. Thursday evening Orion called.

"Hi Amber, this is {so-and-so} calling from Orion. We have selected an individual to fill the English teacher position, and unfortunately we have decided to go in another direction. Thanks for interviewing. Good luck."

Cue curse word. I was cranky all night long. Orion registered as the 7th job rejection since graduation. Dewy told me not to be upset but to find the positive. So did mom. I was cranky. Positive was something I wasn't capable of in that moment. Sorry. Yesterday mom followed me as I dropped my car off at Les Shwab for an alignment, so she could take me home. As we pulled into the parking lot my cell rang. It was Orion. Now what...

"Hi Amber, this is principal {so-and-so}. Refresh me really quick on which extra cirricular activites you would be able to help with..." I did. Softball and Cheer, or whatever else he needs. He continues.
"I know you received a phone call yesterday, but we have done some more deliberation..." He then proceeded to tell me that after offering the job to someone else, they didn't feel right about it and decided to give it to me instead. Les Schwab thinks I'm a freak cause I danced around their parking lot. Just call me Mrs. Hodges--9th grade English Teacher! I have to admit that it was a nice little pick me up after last week. Speaking of Kaylee...

Not a day goes by that I don't hear about someone fasting for my sister. Yesterday as I was walking into my house one of the adorable young women in my ward was getting off the school bus. I had been with Kaylee all morning, and was running home to rotate my laundry and then run back. Before I got inside said young woman called to me. I stopped and met her halfway through my yard where she began to inquire about Kaylee. As I gave her a very animated update on the color red, she proceeded to tell me about a large group of students at Kaylee's school who had worn ties and dresses to school and spent the day fasting. It was all I could do not to fall apart on the grass. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I explained my gratitude and asked her to relay it to Kaylee's peers. These kids never cease to amaze me.

I've got sunshine on a cloudy day. When its cold outside I got the month of May.... da da da...

Amber,
Your story is SO great.
I mean, it's awful and sad but the upside of things is AMAZING and makes me believe SO much in the power of prayer.

I think of your cute family often,
and will keep praying.

P.S. You're adorable.

Hey Amber, it's Crystal Hatch (or otherwise known as Clark) My lil sis Caesie told me about Kaylee and I have been feeling so sad for her. I did however, love reading your blog and getting the update! It's so great to hear she's making some progress! It's trials like these that bring tears of sadness and tears of joy:) I have thought about your family a lot and even my little 4 yr old blesses Kaylee in her prayers.

Congrats on the new job!! I can't believe you are old enough to be a teacher;) I know all the lil junior high boys will have a crush on you! GOOD LUCK!

Glad to hear of some progress! And Brian told me he heard she's expected to make a full recovery! Oh how I hope she does! I got the chills (my way of feeling the spirit) when I read about her classmates dressing up and fasting for her. What amazing youth!
And CONGRATS to you! A teacher at O-rion! That's awesome! Close to home for you too! Perfect, and obviously meant to be. So cool that they just didn't feel right about that other choice!
