anniversary weekend.

Last week Dewy and I celebrated our year anniversary, and we figured we should use the whole weekend to party. We are pretty big partiers.

Dewy had a plan for us for that Friday night for weeks, but it was to be a surprise. Not because he wanted it to be a surprise, but because I insisted it be. Every time he tried to tell me what we were doing I plugged my ears and yelled obnoxiously until he gave up. Thursday was our actual anniversary, and Dewy and I went to Javier's for lunch where he successfully explained to me what our plan was for the next day. We were to spend the evening at the Alaskan Inn up Ogden Canyon.

I was super excited! I had never been there, but merely seen it in passing on my way through the canyon, and I couldn't wait. Friday Dewy went golfing in the afternoon while I went off on my own secret adventure that we will discuss later. We left the house about seven pm, checked into the Alaskan Inn, and headed over to the Oaks for dinner. Don't worry. We only ALMOST ordered the entire menu. No big deal. Shrimp skewers, Fried shimp, Chicken sandwich, chocolate shake... the works.

When we got done with dinner (after 20 years cause they are super DUPER slow but the food is delicious) we went back to enjoy our room. We enjoyed a huge jacuzzi tub, sparkling cidar, a couple movies, some games, and in the morning breakfast in bed. It was a fabulous night planned solely by the hubs and lets face it... anytime the hubs plans stuff its fabulous. I love when I can just go and enjoy an evening....NOT plan it.

AAH! A kissing picture... get over it. We were enjoying our robes--compliments of the room.

Saturday morning we left and went home to grab our swim suits. We headed over to mom's to swim and enjoy some rays. When Dewy says "swim" he means playing one on one in the shallow end and playing in the water. When Amber says "swim" she means dipping in the water when it gets to hot to bear while she is laying out tanning. Both definitions were satisfied thanks to Austin who played one on one for me.

After sufficient wrinkles from the water and as soon as every freckle I had was evident from the sun, we went home to get ready for that evenings festivities. Now it was time for my plan! I decided something fun to do would be a scavenger hunt for Dewy! He hates those, but I think they are fun, and it would be fun hanging together driving all over the place. While Dewy was golfing Friday, I was putting the clues in place! AH! Talk about stress case. I had an anxiety attack the whole time, worried Dewy was going to beat me home.
Clue #1 he got at our house. It introduced the game and instructed him to go to our first home in North Ogden.

I knew I risked losing the clues to idiotic people in the public when I taped the clues in broad daylight, however I never thought the only one that would be gone would be the one I taped underneath our old mailbox! I was furious when we got there and it was gone. At first I thought he was just being lazy when he didn't look underneath the mailbox. Then I felt bad when I saw it wasn't even there. Boo. Improv was needed to so I just told him to head to my mom's house for his next clue. This was where he first told me that he loved me. He was drugged on Nyquil, and I didn't believe him when he said it, but alas that was where it occurred and had it been any other way it wouldn't have been as memorable.

Mom gave Dewy his next clue, and as you can see she may or may not have been overly excited to do so. The next clue led him to the place where we saw each other after our dating session number 2 had ended. We saw each other, talked a lot, and went out that weekend. We spend all of our summers here playing ball, and to be honest I was most worried that this clue was going to be gone.
WELCOME TO THE WEBER COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS!

THE CLUE WAS THERE! Taped to the pole really white trash like, but it was there all the same. The clue led him next to his mom's house. It was there that he proposed to me. The only problem was when I stopped to drop the clue off the day before no one was home, so when we got there I handed her the clue and she handed it to him. Classy I know. Thanks Nan!

The next clue led him to the Bountiful Temple where we were married. It was nice to go on a drive with him and have a big break in between our clues. We talked and laughed and jammed out to the radio, and Dewy about had an aneurism when he realized he wasn't wearing a tie and about to step on temple grounds... when was that made a rule?? Oh yeah.. its not. Weirdo.

Oh yeah... That big house right there is ours. We are just letting it's occupants borrow it. We are nice like that. Up to this point Dewy hadn't had to talk to anyone other than our families in order to get his clues. I had to make him step out of his comfort zone. Obviously. The next stop was to the Marriot Hotel on 2nd and State Street in Salt Lake City where we spend our first night together. That night there was a fat man in our bed when we got to our room so they upgraded us to the suite upstairs. It was legit. Dewy had to go up to the front desk and ask for his clue. They tried to ID him before they gave him the clue. He was pissed. Ha. It was awesome.

The final stop on our journey was our most favorite place to eat EVER. PF CHANGS. Yum. It was a great weekend to spend together, and we both had a lot of fun. He wasn't even mad about the scavenger hunt, and even seemed to like it. Here's to you and me babe, and another fun year.

That's funny that you stayed at the Alaskan Inn for your anniversary. We did the exact same thing this year. We even ate at the Oaks, too. Good food, S L O W service.

Cute scavenger hunt!
