Count your many blessings??
Last night I was eating a taco and watching DWTS (for the first time ever in my life may I add) and when my cell phone rang. It was mom. I answered.
Me: Hello?
Mom: Hi can you help me with something?
Me: Sure, what?
Mom: I'm at the hospital. Dad is in the ER. I need you to go pick up Austin...
The rest of the convo is kind of a blur. All I remember is hearing that my dad was in a bike accident and that I couldn't stop crying. He was riding his bike in North Ogden by Wadman Park and got going a little fast down a hill. As he tried to slow down and turn a corner, he crashed. The neighbors who were watching Austin, were the people who saw my dad first. They said they drove by and saw a man laying in the gutter.
Kaylee was at work at this point, and unable to be reached by cell phone. Lucky for me, I'm good friends with her boss. I text him. Immediately Kaylee calls me. She is crying too. She had just talked to mom, and wanted to go up to the hospital, but mom didn't want her to drive alone. Dewy dropped Austin and I off at my mom's house, and he picked up Kaylee and took her up. I knew he was going to need help if he was going to give dad a blessing, so I called my parents bishop. He went right up. Here are the pictures I received when they all got there.

I forgot to mention that when we picked up Austin, our neighbor had Dad's helmet and bike. His helmet was completely busted up. The doctor said if he hadn't had it on, that would have been his skull, and we would have lost him. Thank goodness my dad is not an idiot, and rides with a helmet.
Dad broke his cheek bone, nose, got stitches above his brow, has a wrap on his elbow, and possibly may need reconstructive surgery for his face. That will be happening either at the end of this week or the beginning of next.

I'm not sure I can handle any more phone calls telling me that someone in my family is in the hospital. Enough of those, please.

Oh my goodness!!! Seriously Amber your family needs to stay home or sent out in bubble wrap!!! That is so scary, I sure hate those phone calls too! I am glad he is somewhat ok and that he was wearing his helmet... How is his back????
Once again, our prayers are with your family. I can't believe this happened. I can't read anymore blog posts about bad things that happen to your family. My heart stops everytime. I am so glad that he is ok. Bless him for wearing a helmet. Please let your mom know that we love her and if she needs anything to please let us know. My mom was freaking out!
Tell your parents my dad will come check on him tomorrow.
Love ya girl.
Amber, Brad and I saw your dad in the road, we were heading up 2600 at the time so we pulled over to see if we could help, I didnt realize it was him! The guy who called 911 was actually a co-worker of mine and he told me an ambulance was on the way. I am so sorry that it happened, please know that our thoughts and prayers are with your dad and the whole family-keep us updated. Take care. Love, Heather.
Amberjo,
I don't recall them saying we would have lost him but nice touch! ;) Those pictures look even more horrid on a computer screen...I thought they were bad on the cell phone screen!
