temple picture class.

Hello ladies (and gentlemen should you be so inclined to participate). I'm hosting a class. You are invited. Here's the deal:

When: APRIL 10th
Time: 9am
Where: My church building... hopefully--stay tuned for the final decision.

The pictures cost 50.00. That cost covers the picture itself and the fabulous frame. Black and Cream paint will be provided but you are free to bring your own should you want something different. The pictures are big and lovely. I have the Bountiful Temple.

For those of you who aren't so craftily inclined, DON'T WORRY! It's not hard--YOU CANNOT POSSIBLY SCREW THEM UP! Here is an example of the Salt Lake Temple:

These pictures are lovely. You know you want one. Leave me a comment, or email me if you want to come and I'll send you the finer details. My email is amberhodges22@gmail.com I need at least 10 orders to make this class happen. Help a sister out!

Ok ... sorry to be the cold water on this, but ...

“Church buildings and other property are to be used for worship, religious instruction, and other Church-related activities. Church property should not be use for commercial or political purposes, which would violate laws that permit its tax exemption. Examples of uses that are not approved are listed below:

• Renting or leasing Church facilities for commercial purposes.
• Promoting business ventures or investment enterprises, including posting commercial advertising or sponsoring commercial entertainment.
• Buying, selling, or promoting products, services, publications, or creative works, or demonstrating wares.
• Holding unauthorized fund-raising projects.
• Hosting speakers or instructors who are paid a fee, who recruit participants, or who solicit customers or clients while giving seminars, lessons, aerobics classes, and so on. Exceptions are made for Church Educational System programs. Exceptions may be made to use meetinghouse pianos and organs for paid private instruction (see p. 294).
• Holding athletic events that are not sponsored by the Church, including practices.
• Holding political meetings or campaigns. As an exception, where there is no reasonable alternative, Church facilities may be used for voter registration and polling places at the request of voting officials if the officials and voters maintain Church standards in the building. For example, the voting officials should post “No Smoking” signs and enforce this restriction.

Use of Church property should not pose significant risk of harm to participants or to the property. Nor should it unduly expose the Church to liability or disturb surrounding neighbors.”

Mr. Button Gear, Really??? Why do you care??? What about when Relief Society hosts enrichment night? You pay for and make crafts... This is no different!! Sorry Amber I had to comment.

Breanne,

let me take your questions in order:

Really? Yes, really. The gospel - and by extension, the church is based on order and correct principles. If we do not understand the rules, we can not strive to live them.

What do I care? In this case, I am the ward Executive Secretary, and have been put in charge of the ward calendar, which is how this event came to my knowledge. Part of my duties in approving ward calendar items is to ascertain whether they are sponsored by an organization, or if not whether they are approved by the Bishopric.

How is this different from Relief Society Enrichment? First, it was not submitted to the ward calendar as a Relief Society activity, or by any other organization within the ward. It appears to be solely a personal venture-- which simply does not fall within the meetinghouse use guidelines.

My SUGGESTION is for Amber to get with the Relief Society President and/or Enrichment Coordinator, and schedule this though that organization as part of the ward's Relief Society enrichment program.

I hope that helps clarify why I posted the original comments. I'm not some Rule-Nazi; I just wanted to be clear as to why that can't happen under the current circumstances.

Thanks,
Jim Manning

OK, Jim I do understand your interest in the matter however, a few things..1. Amber didn't say that it was 100% going to be at her ward building, she was checking into it..hence the "stay tuned for final decision." Who is to say that she hasn't talked to the Relief Society president? 2. Why not disclose who you are to begin with so she and others know who you are and what interest you have with the matter? 3. If you had a problem, why not just call Amber and discuss this with her as it is a personal matter. MY SUGGESTION is the next time you need to talk to someone regarding your calling, call them at home, identify who you are and then discuss it with that person, don't leave a comment on their blog!!!
P.S. How do you even know about her blog??
