One Month Anniversary... Everybody Sigh... Ahhhh

Well... I figure after a month or so I have absolutely NO excuse for not having wedding pictures posted yet. The morning began with a wedding ceremony in the bountiful temple where the sealer pronounced us man and wife at 9:13. On the way to the temple the weather looked dreadful, and in fact was pouring as we drove through Layton. Upon entering the parking lot of the temple, a rainbow appeared (we are pretty famous for our rainbows) and the clouds parted above the center of the temple. Serious. When we came out the sun was shining, and our pictures were taken without even a hint of rain. On the way to the luncheon (which was at the Timbermine... Yum) it poured once again. Yet again upon arrival the rain stopped and we ate our lunch with the sun shining through the windows. The rest of the afternoon was sunny and even into the reception until about halfway when a dark cloud began to approach. When the line ended, Dewy and I proceeded to the side yard to cut the cake, toss the bouquet, and the garter and as soon as Jason Bell had the garter in his hand, the pouring began. Nice little curtain closer if I don't say so myself. The day was miraculous. Now for the funny stuff...
As we came out of the temple and met our families a small, darling little girl came and grabbed the bottom of my dress in a hug. Pretty sure she thought I was some Disney Princess escaped from the theme park. As the pictures progressed I felt her tug on my dress, pulling me away from my groom. I bent down to inquire what she needed. She replied, "I saved you." Hmm... "From what?" I asked her. "From him." She replied and pointed up to Dewy. Classy. Needless to say at that point I may have been a little bit afraid of him, and may have needed some saving. Just not yet. Ha.

As the clock struck five I thought to myself, "OK. The cake should be here anytime." As the clock struck 5:30 I thought to myself, "Hmm... wonder where my cake is." As the clock struck 5:50 my mom proceeded to call our cake lady and inquire about the cake's whereabouts. Great news. She had written down that the 17th was actually a Saturday, not a Wednesday, and hadn't made a cake. Tears began to flow, not mine but the cake lady's on the other side of the phone, and mom came out to inform me "We have no cake." I replied with, "I'm sorry...what?" And the reception began. Meanwhile, one of the ladies who helped decorate for the reception, A woman named PJ whom I visit taught and who coincidentally actually decorated weddings, ran home to grab one of her fake model cakes to set on my cake table. Another lady who helped decorate and actually did all of my flowers ran to the grocery store and bought two round cakes, frosted them, set her child's sippy cup in the middle so there were different levels, and covered it with flowers. I didn't realize I actually had five cakes total until this picture of all of them minus the real on in the living room. The small real cake replaced the large fake one until about 7:40 when my real cake showed up. Not completely how I wanted it, but close enough. Not many receptions are so extravagant they change cakes every hour. It's funny how even if something goes horribly wrong, after you put so much time, sweat, money, and tears into the darn day, the day still seems perfect. It wouldn't have been MY wedding without a great story to tell now would it? The poor cake lady was in complete disarray, but let it be known... My cake tasted miraculous, as all of hers do, and I think she is a wonderful cake lady.

Dewy grew up in Washington Terrace next door to a man named Don. Don is a rather outspoken, completely inappropriate old man who I think is rather hilarious. He attemps to kiss every female he meets. As he came through our reception line, he leaned in to kiss me and I nonchalantly turned so he hit my cheek. Then the words, "ya sure are a pretty little Sh**" proceeded to tumble out of his mouth and I fought a laugh burning as I caught my parents' eyes. Ha. Oh Don.

All in all our day couldn't have been more perfect for the two of us. Thanks for sharing it with us! Enjoy the pictures!

The pics are darling and the stories were great. It is not a true mormon wedding without some type of catastrophe which really isn't that bad when the whole thing is said and done. (am I bugging you yet with my lack of grammatical skills)
I love you and your blog, but you have to change the background. It's super cute and all, but I can't read it. NO-I am not that old so don't even think it!!!
