Let Freedom Ring

Every year on the 4th of July, my side of the family starts off the day with the Cherry Days Parade. After the parade we spend the entire day at my parents house swimming and BBQing it up. The men go golf, the women lounge around and watch the kids, and the evening ends watching both the Weber High fireworks and Farr West fireworks from our yard as the little kids run rampant with sparklers and fire crackers. The only thing that was different this year was that I had to actually bring food. LAME. The Macrums (family friends) joined us this year as well in our festivities. Mike brought illegal
fireworks (which couldn't have been more awesome) and Nick singed his thumb when the fuse bent as he was lighting one and the spark spat at his hand. Good one. At one point during the day, we noticed my brother Austin and his friend Mason Macrum were no where to be found. The men were out golfing, so us ladies split up and searched around the vicinity.

On the side yard we discovered a very large box. Voices radiated from within. We got all the other ladies' attention as mom and I tried to listen to what the voices were saying. It sounded like they were playing a game. When we flipped open the lid to the box we discovered Austin and Mason sitting in the box, sipping soda, and playing Chutes and Ladders. Mason's response to our lifting the box lid was "Ah crap."

Awesome. We had a great time hanging with the Allen and Macrum clan. Dewy's parents were in Provo visiting BranDee so we didn't get to see them over this holiday. Our first holiday together. Tender.
